Americana

When I hear the word "America," I usually think of things like bald eagles, annoying Republicans, and the KFC double down. Yet there are more things to this country than exploited endangered species, stubborn conservatives, and heart-attack-in-a-box fast food items. Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender people, intersexuals, asexuals, pansexuals, allies, and every sexual orientation and gender identity are part of this nation. We are denied, ignored, condemned, and told that we don't exist or deserve the same rights as others. I think that in the United States, as well as every other country in the world, the LGBT community deserves rights and recognition.


I thought that a cat would be a good symbol for the LGBT community instead of a bald eagle. They are considered feminine. Cats come in both male and female, but we simply consider them to be feminine because of gender norms. A lot of people in the LGBT community are oppressed because they don't fit gender norms, so I thought a cat would be a good representation of the LGBT community.

Plus my cat Twinkles is just a very cute cat. ^.^ She was a good cat model. I only needed to take a few snapshots to get the right picture.
