Comic Character of the Month Contest

Hosted by:

:iconcomicunderground: :icondisney-heroines:

A lot of people have suggested that Disney Heroines should have a monthly contest.  However, I already have a group with a monthly, and it takes a long time to do.  But today I got a great idea: why not combine them?

Comic Underground hosts a special contest called The Comic Character of the Month contest. Every month, the admins choose a comic book character, and people submit artwork based on that character. All artwork in the Comic Underground Gallery based on that character is automatically included in contest, but I'd prefer that submissions be put in the Comic Character of the Month gallery. The winner gets 10 deviantART points, a permanent place for their winning work in the Featured section. Everyone who submitted work will have their work in the group feature!

There will be TWO winners per month: one from Comic Underground and one from Disney Heroines. Comic Underground's Comic Character of the Month folder will be open to everyone, but Disney Heroine's Comic Character of the Month folder is ONLY open to Disney Heroines members. You don't have to submit your work to both groups to enter the contest, so if you're not a member of Disney Heroines, you can just submit your artwork to Comic Underground.

The character of this month (April 2016) is The Scarlet Witch, also known as Wanda Maximoff.

To enter the contest, all you need to do is submit artwork here (remember, all Disney Heroines rules still apply!): Disney Heroine's Comic Character of the Month folder

If you want to enter the contest but don't really want to follow the rules of Disney Heroines, you can submit to: Comic Underground's Comic Character of the Month folder

Reading  Overview

The basic idea is to take one character from our List of approved Disney Heroines and draw her as if she is a rabbit!   You will also have to write a very, very short description (4 - 6 sentences) explaining why you picked her.

Flowerpot HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST: STEP BY STEP Flowerpot

:happybounce:  STEP ONE

Choose a character.  Remember: SHE MUST BE ON List of approved Disney HeroinesNO OC's (original characters)! If you choose a human character, you will be drawing her as a rabbit.  If you chose a rabbit character (i.e. Sis, Judy Hopps, etc.), then you will have to draw her as a human.  If you pick any other type of character (i.e. alien, lionesss, etc.), then you will have to draw her as a rabbit.  If it makes it easier, think of it this way:

Human ---> Rabbit
Rabbit ---> Human
Everyone else ---> Rabbit
Human ---> Rabbit, Everyone else ---> Rabbit:  She can be a realistic rabbit (the kind that hops around on all fours), an anthropomorphic animal (a rabbit with human-like qualities like walking on two legs, wearing clothes, etc.), or something that reminds you of rabbits.  Feel free to be creative as long as there is a clear rabbit involved!Rabbit ---> Human:  She can look like any human being, but make sure that she is mostly human looking.  You can add ears or a tail, but she must be decidedly human!

Painter STEP TWO

Draw or depict your character.  You can use any visual medium but NO LITERATURE and NO DIGITAL DOLLS MADE FROM A DOLLMAKER SITE!  This is a contest that relies heavily on the ability to create an image of your character.  Also, when I say digital dolls from a dollmaker site, what I mean is that you can't go to a site like Azalea's Dolls and use a program to drag and drop premade clothing and hairstyles on a pixelized doll.  That's too easy, and you wouldn't want to do that anyway because those programs are very limited.  But you can make a digital doll that you digitally manipulated from a base, but you must give credit to whoever made that base.  If you made your own base and used that, that is fine as well.  And of course, real handmade dolls are more than welcome!

OMG MOAR POEMS!  STEP THREE

Write a short paragraph (5 or 6 sentences) explaining what rabbit qualities your chosen Disney character has and why she was the perfect pick to become a rabbit.

Buy My Prints Please STEP FOUR

Send your entry in a note titled "Rabbit Contest Entry" to me, SavvyRed.  Remember to include:Email Send The title of the note as "Rabbit Contest Entry"
Email Send The paragraph you wrote about your characterEmail Send A link to your deviation
Email Send The name of the character you chose
Email Send A thumb of your deviation

Sherlock Holmes RULES

Please read the rules before you start working on your entry.  If you haven't followed the rules, I will send you a note and tell you what you need to do.  I also will take any questions.  I don't mind.  However, I'm sure you will work hard on your entry, so it would be a shame for you to have to start all over again or spend time changing things.

Handshake  YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF Disney Heroines TO ENTER THE CONTEST!
Sorry, but we only accept work from our members in the gallery, so it is important that everyone who enters is a member.
Juggle ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.
Other accounts don't count.  No collaborations with other deviantART members.  I can't afford to give the same prize to more than one person.

Disbelief Alphaosiris NO OC'S (original characters)!
This contest is for changing an existing Disney canon character from List of Approved Disney Heroines into a rabbit or a rabbit character into a human or any other type of character into a rabbit.  Original characters do NOT count!  If you enter an OC into the contest, I will have to ask you to make a totally new entry.  And I'm sure you wouldn't want that!
 Bump  ALL ENTRIES MUST BE CREATED FOR THIS CONTEST!  NO OLD WORK!  NO USING THE SAME IMAGE FOR OTHER CONTESTS!
You can NOT take a drawing that you made six months ago into the contest and slap on a paragraph about it.  All work should be new and made especially for the contest.  You are allowed to submit it to other groups but not as a contest entry.

Police NO ART THEFT!  NO COPYRIGHT INFRIINGEMENT! NO SCREENSHOTS OR EDITED SCREENSHOTS.  NO DIGITAL DOLLS MADE FROM DOLLMAKER DRAG-AND-DROP ONLINE PROGRAMS (like Azalea's Dolls, etc.)!
Obviously, you can't just copy and paste someone's work and say you made it.  That's very wrong!  In addition, make sure that your work follows deviantART's copyright rules and Disney Heroine's rules on copyright. If you use other people's resources, make sure you have permission, give appropriate credit, and follow the rules of the person whose work you have used.  Do NOT take a take a picture of a movie and say it is your own work even if you have edited it.  If you want to use screenshots, you'll have to get permission from Disney, but I strongly doubt Disney would allow it.  Also, no digital dolls made online from dragging and dropping flash programs like Azalea's Dolls.  You can make a digital doll by editing a base, but you have to give credit to the person who made the base (unless you made your own base).  And, of course, handmade dolls are welcome!
Reading YOU MUST USE A FEMALE HEROINE DISNEY CHARACTER FROM THE List of Approved Disney Heroines!!!  I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH!
You can only choose from the list.  So no Donald Duck, Evil Queen, Kim Possible, etc.  No DreamWorks or Sony Pictures characters.
Censored NO ADULT CONTENT, FETISH, OR OFFENSIVE/HATEFUL MATERIAL!
This is a friendly contest about rabbits, ones who are in movies for children.  In addition, any kind of hateful speech or offensive artwork is forbidden.  No racism, sexism, homophobia, trans* phobia, blatantly prejudice stereotypes, drugs, etc.  I do realize Disney himself was not exactly into social justice, but try to be respectful.  We do allow the characters to be LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, etc.) or genderbent, but in a positive way!  No need for mean stereotypes!
Argh! Stupid writer's block. NO LITERATURE OR FAN FICTION.  MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE THE PARAGRAPH ABOUT YOUR CHOSEN CHARACTER!
The only literature allowed is the short paragraph of five or six sentences about what rabbit-like qualities your character has and why you chose her, which is mandatory.

HAVE FUN!!!!
