What is the Comic Character of the Month?
Comic Underground and Disney Heroines co-host a special contest called The Comic Character of the Month contest. Every month, the head admin chooses a comic book character from Disney's Marvel films, and people submit artwork based on that character. All Comic Underground sponsored artwork in the Comic Underground Gallery based on that character is automatically included in contest, but please put all submissions be put in the Comic Underground Comic Character of the Month gallery folder. Similarly, all Disney Heroines sponsored artwork in the chosen character's folder based on that character is automatically included in contest, but please put all Disney submissions be put in the Disney Heroines Comic Character of the Month gallery folder. One winner is chosen from each group, and both winners get 10 deviantART point each, a permanent place for their winning work in the Featured section of the group they submitted it to. Everyone who submitted work for the contest will have their work in a group feature (which is this!) that appears in in the blog of both groups.

Once again, I am happy to announce that ImpulsiveSpidercide has returned to writing the literature part of Comic Character of the Month! He is an expert in comic knowledge, and here you can learn more about Agent Peggy Carter. His writing tends to be long, but it's great read! Thank you, Spidercide!

Darcy Lewis, a character original to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and having no equivalent in the comics as of yet. To most people, she’s just the intern and assistant of astrophysicist Jane Foster, but thanks to the biting wit with which she approaches every situation before her, she is probably one of the best MCU-original characters. Certainly one of the most popular, from what I’ve seen and read, and to think it all started when a newly depowered and exiled Thor landed on her and Jane’s van and Darcy took him down with a taser!
A taser! On the god of thunder! That shouldn’t have worked! But in his depowered condition, it did. Oh, and her inability to grasp the proper pronunciation of Mjolnir . . . well, it might be a bit annoying, but who hasn’t had hard times with another language’s intricacies? Still gotta admire someone whose response to government goons showing up and taking all of her and Jane’s stuff after their contact with Thor is sheer annoyance as expressed through biting sarcasm rather than overt fear. So far, though, she’s only appeared in the first two Thor movies, and it doesn’t seem like she’ll be returning for a third, or for future MCU appearances, especially since her actress, Kat Dennings, is busy with her own CBS show 2 Broke Girls, but there are lots of people out there dying for one more appearance from Darcy Lewis and her sharp tongue.
